In the heart of Geneva, nestled along the water’s edge, stands Albertine’s Lounge: a chic and stylish terrace offering Mediterranean-Asian cuisine and lake views worth talking about. This trendy lakeside lounge is a refreshing upstart on the Geneva scene, with a modern flair that sets it apart from the city’s other spots.
Whats the story?
A new concept by the Beau-Rivage Genève, Albertine’s Lounge seeks to bring to life the relaxed and convivial atmosphere of the Côte d’Azur, offering a sophisticated space to enjoy fine food and views. After its 3rd ever reopening in history, the hotel has pushed the boundaries of what’s possible, maintaining its old-century elegance while experimenting with contemporary ideas.
“We wanted to come back with something different—a modern summer concept that people wouldn’t expect from a classical hotel like ours” Lars Wagner, General Manager of the Beau-Rivage Genève tells us. Albertine’s Lounge is the creation of Lars and Chef Dominique Gauthier, who wanted to build something unique that would contrast with the hotel’s classical atmosphere. “We need to continuously grow and take risks” Lars tells us—even the name “Albertine’s Lounge,” pays homage to Jean-Jaques Mayer’s wife, a woman who had a great vision and drive to pioneer.
What can we expect from the interior?
From the stylish lounge sofas to the chic table tops and chairs, there’s a wealth of style and elegance everywhere you turn. The decor is sophisticated yet colourful and lively, with pretty coral and blush pink armchairs, complemented with cool geometrical furnishings. The General Manager, Lars Wagner, committed himself to creating a contemporary space— having brought in unique design pieces from Barcelona that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. The result? A modern oasis, miles away from the busy shopping streets, with a variety of comfy seating areas to enjoy stunning Lac Léman scenery. From the glossy Deutz-Champagne bar to the sleek sofas shaded by tropical palm trees, the lounge creates a convivial atmosphere that’s totally worth a visit.
How about the food and drink?
The tapas menu has been masterminded by Michelin-starred chef Dominique Gauthier, one of the best chefs in Geneva, who’s refined taste is reflected in his exceptional cuisine. Offering a mix of Mediterranean-Asian flavours, the menu features light summer dishes that burst with flavour and flair. Imagine: thinly sliced tuna tataki with sesame and chilli sauce, and a tender seabass ceviche with green curry and coconut milk. Guests are totally spoilt for choice, and have the option of delicious Mediterranean dishes like the green gazpacho with avocado, strawberry and basil and the prawn linguine with olive oil.
“We really liked the mix of asian cuisine; which is light and fresh, with comforting Italian dishes that warm the soul” General Manager, Lars tells us. Even down to the drinks menu, Lars made sure there’s something for everyone, with healthy fruit smoothies to non-alcoholic cocktails and magnums of the world’s finest rosé wine. Theres something for all tastes here, and enough to keep you going until evening time!
Whether its for a refreshing summer apéro or an afterwork dinner with friends, Albertine’s Lounge is the new place to be. Here, the spirit of the French Riviera lives on in all its glory, combined with a professional team, mouth-watering cuisine, and breathtaking lakeside views.
